Both Sides of Morning

Posted on Updated on

Some pivotal, yet intriguing, scriptures helped me write this work.  Who is Jesus—is He our Morning Star? Who is the Devil and why does the Devil exist? And, how are these two both connected to Divine Providence?

  1. Romans 2:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.”
  2. 2 Cor. 12:9 “[The Lord said] My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
  3. Job 2:6-7 “The Lord said to Satan, ‘Very well then, [Job] is in your hands; but you must spare his life.’ So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job.”

“Both Sides of Morning”

God be with you while you sleep

But the Devil be with you,

When you wake in the morning

God be with you on light sandy beaches while

The sun has reached the highest cusp in the sky

The Devil be with you while you lie awake, at night

Doubting in love and family ties

God be with your future

But the Devil be with your past regrets

God carve out a way in the darkness

The Devil carve a cleft, for you, to rest there

The Devil be with you when you start a new day

The Devil be with you when you reach for hope

White noise, subtle beat, like music on play

Giving you more than you, ever need, for rope

God be with you in poverty, God be with your last dime

The Devil be with you to contemplate the reasons

You lack and fall to hard times

God be with you when you’re out of breath, taking

The storm winds instead of an oar

Unnoticed, untouched may your free will pull you

To the one side of morning to shore

One for salvation

One for deliverance

One for faith

Both work as Instruments

One for bitterness

One for sickness

One for worry

Both in Attendance

God be with you

Not as farewell nor goodbye

God be with you

Not as prayer or thoughts that ‘be’

But as truth abiding always, serving

You in tangible needs

One sun

One star

Both sides of morning

Both sons

Both shinning

Morning Star

Son of Morning
